Job summary

Global Banking School is seeking a dedicated Student Wellbeing professional to support East London students on-site. You will deliver targeted learning support, assist students with SpLDs or disabilities, and collaborate with academic teams to boost retention and academic success.

The role emphasises inclusion, access to adjustments, and a supportive environment, with a permanent full-time contract and clear progression opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience working in Higher Education.
  • Experience providing one-to-one academic or learning support to students with SpLDs or disabilities.
  • Qualified in teaching, learning support, or related field (e.g. Level 5 Diploma).
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and reasonable adjustments in HE.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with students.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted learning and study support to students, including those with SpLDs or disabilities.
  • Enable students with additional needs to achieve their potential by removing barriers to learning.
  • Collaborate with academic teams to improve retention and learner confidence and success.

Department: Student Wellbeing
Location: East London (On-site)
Type of Contract: Permanent - Full Time - 40hrs per week (On-site Working)
Salary Range: £31,000-£34,000pa
Shift Pattern: 9:00-5:30pm

What The Team Do:

Supporting students' well-being by offering help with mental health, personal issues, and practical concerns like housing or finances. Providing guidance, crisis support, and promote a safe, inclusive environment to help students succeed both personally and academically.

The role:

Your work within Student Wellbeing will focus on working in partnership with students to identify barriers to learning, and provide ongoing support according to their needs. The work you do will help students manage social and emotional issues, enable our staff to provide the best support to learners with wellbeing needs, and help the enable the students you work with to get the best out of their study with GBS!

  • Deliver effective, targeted learning and study support services, providing specialist assistance to students with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD) and disabilities.
  • Enable students with additional needs to achieve their full potential by removing barriers to learning and fostering independence.
  • Work alongside academic teams and relevant faculties to improve student retention, improve confidence in learners and contribute to their academic success.

What Experience/Skills are required:
Essential:
  • Demonstrable experience working in Higher Education.
  • Experience providing one-to-one academic or learning support to students with Specific Learning Differences (e.g. Dyslexia, ADHD) or disabilities.
  • Recognised qualification in teaching, learning support, or a related field (e.g. Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with SpLDs, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and reasonable adjustments in a higher education context.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and motivate students.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) processes and support frameworks.
  • Training in mental health awareness or mentoring.
  • Experience of delivering group work sessions.
