Job summary

Simply Education Ltd is seeking a Learning & Independence Mentor to join a specialist SEN school in Northampton, working within its Post-16 provision with students aged 16-18 who have complex additional needs. The role is temporary with potential to become permanent for the right candidate, and pays £100-£110 per day.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:45pm, starting in November. You will support students individually and in small groups, help develop communication, social and daily living

Qualifications

• Patient and understanding of individual needs and abilities.
• Comfortable providing personal care as part of daily responsibilities.
• Confident communicating with young people and building trusting relationships.
• Able to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
• A proactive team player with a flexible approach.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students individually and in small groups throughout the school day.
• Helping young people develop communication, social skills and practical independence.
• Encouraging participation in learning activities and preparation-for-adulthood programmes.
• Providing personal care, including toileting, personal hygiene and mealtime assistance.
• Supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility requirements, following appropriate training.
• Promoting positive interactions, emotional wellbeing and appropriate behaviour.
• Assisting with practical activities and opportunities to develop everyday life skills.
• Following individual support plans and maintaining a safe, respectful learning environment.
