Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group in Andover is seeking a SEND Early Years Practitioner to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional needs, helping them participate in nursery life and daily activities. You’ll work closely with Early Years colleagues and families to build trust and consistent support.

We welcome candidates with Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification, and experience supporting children with disabilities; safeguarding knowledge and paediatric care experience are

Qualifications

• Level 3 Early Years or Childcare qualification and 1:1 experience with children with disabilities/additional needs.
• Good safeguarding understanding and experience with behaviour support.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a designated child.
• Help the child engage with activities and peers.
• Adapt experiences so the child can participate fully.
• Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
• Champion the child’s individual needs and build trust.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and carers.
• Follow individual care and support plans.
• Support with personal care and medication as appropriate.
• Raise safeguarding or wellbeing concerns promptly.
