Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a specialist SEN provision in Ilford. The role focuses on delivering targeted interventions, classroom support, and behaviour management for students aged 8-16 with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other learning needs.

The HLTA will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement EHCP targets, monitor progress, and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • HLTA/TA or SEN support experience.
  • Experience with ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead interventions and support learning independently.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and differentiated learning approaches.
  • Calm, patient and resilient attitude.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality classroom and intervention support for students with SEN including ASD, ADHD and autism.
  • Lead small group sessions and targeted interventions to support academic, social and emotional development.
  • Deliver planned learning activities and cover lessons when required.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction skills.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement EHCP targets and personalised support plans.
  • Use behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support positive engagement.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Support students both inside and outside the classroom to promote confidence and independence.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
