HLTA for Maths

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Maths, responsible to the SENDCO and Head of Faculty. This role is crucial in complementing the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities. This includes planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups and occasionally whole classes. You will also monitor students and assess, record, and report on their achievement, progress, and development.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under a pre-determined system of supervision, sometimes involving whole classes.
  • Identify students requiring intervention, assess their current understanding, and review progress over the intervention period.
  • Prepare impact reports for senior leaders as needed.
  • Manage and develop a specialist area within the school (Maths), including supervisory duties for other Learning Assistants.
  • Liaise with teachers, support staff, health and education specialists, parents, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Ensure professional standards and regulations are adhered to in accordance with the role of HLTA.
