SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant - Lewisham - September 2025 start

Do you have the patience, empathy, and commitment to support a young child with additional needs?

Details:

  • September 2025 to July 2026
  • £100 - £115 per day
  • Primary school based in Lewisham
  • 1:1 SEN support to a child with Down Syndrome
  • Meaningful, rewarding role for someone passionate about early years and inclusion

You'll work 1:1 with a Reception-aged child with Down Syndrome, supporting them throughout the school day. Your focus will be on helping them access learning, build communication skills, and feel safe and supported in class. You'll follow the child's EHCP, work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and adapt activities to meet their needs. You'll also support with transitions, routines, and positive behaviour.

Ideal candidates will have experience working with children, preferably in a school or nursery setting, and some understanding of SEN. You should be calm, consistent, and nurturing, with a genuine interest in early years education. Experience in speech and language support, Makaton, or working with children with developmental delays is advantageous. Reliability, proactivity, and a full-year commitment are essential.

This is a warm, inclusive primary school in Lewisham with a strong pastoral focus. The early years team is experienced and collaborative, with strong leadership from an approachable SENCO and Headteacher. The school provides regular training and support for staff.

Due to high application volume, only successful candidates will be contacted.
