Job summary

Balfor Education is seeking an experienced SEN English Teacher to join a specialist school in Langport, Somerset, supporting students across KS3 and KS4. The role requires QTS or UK teaching qualification and 6 months UK teaching experience, with a focus on SEND and learning differences.

You will plan and deliver engaging English lessons, adapting resources for individual needs and working with Teaching Assistants to support academic progress and personal development.

Qualifications

• QTS or a recognised UK teaching qualification is required.
• Minimum of 6 months UK teaching experience within an educational setting is essential.
• Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3/KS4) is required.
• Previous experience in SEN/SEND or specialist education is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning disabilities is advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Adapt lessons and resources to meet individual SEND requirements.
• Support students developing literacy and communication skills.
• Differentiate teaching strategies to support students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning disabilities.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback; collaborate with the SEN team.
