Job description

Smile Education is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced Primary SEN school in Wolverhampton, currently seeking an Early Career Teacher (ECT) with a passion and commitment to working with children with Special Educational Needs.

This is a full-time role within the Key Stage 1 team, starting in September 2025, and offers the successful candidate an opportunity to make a meaningful difference from the very start of their teaching career.
About the School:
  • A specialist setting that supports children with Sensory Needs, Autism (ASD), ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).
  • Small, well-structured classes with a maximum of 10 pupils per class, supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants.
  • A nurturing, inclusive environment that prioritises pupil wellbeing and personal development alongside academic progress.
About the Role:
  • Full-time ECT role within a KS1 SEN class.
  • Plan, deliver and assess tailored lessons that meet individual needs.
  • Work closely with support staff to implement EHCPs and deliver individualised learning programmes.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Be a qualified ECT with recent placement or teaching experience in a SEN or inclusive setting.
  • Have a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills and a nurturing approach.
  • Be proactive, resilient, and committed to ongoing professional development.
