Job summary

Exning Primary School in Newmarket is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to support lessons, especially for pupils with SEN or EAL, and assist with classroom preparation. You will help manage behaviour and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment within a supportive school community.

The role is part-time (28.5 hours/week, 39 weeks/year) on a fixed-term contract to March 2027, with a pro-rata salary of £26,017–£26,847 and a range of staff benefits. Closing date 2 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEN or EAL.
• Ability to assist classroom teacher with lesson preparation.
• Good behaviour management and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and materials.
• Support pupils during lessons, particularly those with SEN or EAL.
• Help foster emotional and social development and create an inclusive learning environment.
