Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate SEN Co-Educator to support the teaching and learning process within the classroom, specifically catering to students with special educational needs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the class teacher or SENCO, ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to reach their full potential in an inclusive setting.

This role is integral in delivering an accessible and engaging curriculum, offering tailored support (including interventions) to individuals and groups of children with additional needs. As an SEN Co-Educator, you will help create a positive, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils. You will actively contribute to assessing progress, managing behaviour, and fostering a love of learning while upholding the school’s values and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teaching and learning process in the classroom, ensuring the needs of students with SEN are met.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to deliver a curriculum that is inclusive and engaging for all learners.
  • Provide tailored interventions for individuals and groups of children with SEN to ensure their progress.
  • Implement strategies to support students with a range of learning difficulties, including autism, ADHD, speech and language challenges, and other additional needs.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that encourages student growth, independence, and development.
  • Contribute to assessments and tracking of student progress, adapting support strategies accordingly.
  • Assist in managing student behaviour and fostering a respectful and cooperative classroom atmosphere.
  • Support students with personal care needs where required.

Liaison with:

Teaching staff, associate staff, Headteacher, SENCO, Senior Leaders, parents/carers, and external support services.
