Overview

SEN Class Teacher - Secondary & Sixth Form. Specialist SEN School - Birmingham (B17). Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term. Start Date: ASAP. Pay: MPS/UPS - Paid to scale via PAYE. Long Term Futures is supporting a well-established special school in Birmingham, educating students aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), SEMH challenges, and other learning differences. The school offers a structured, caring environment and is part of a wider trust dedicated to high-quality, inclusive education.

The Role

We are looking for a full-time SEN teacher to start immediately, leading a small, well-supported class in the secondary and post-16 setting. You will deliver differentiated lessons tailored to each pupil's EHCP, supporting their progress, independence, and confidence.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons across a variety of abilities.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support students with ASD, SEMH, and complex needs using evidence-based approaches.
  • Collaborate with therapists, pastoral staff, and families to adapt learning plans.
  • Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and independence.
  • Track pupil progress and contribute to annual reviews and reporting.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.
  • Experience in an SEN or inclusive secondary/post-16 setting - desirable.
  • Strong understanding of neurodiversity, emotional development, and curriculum adaptation.
  • Positive behaviour management skills and a collaborative mindset.
