Job summary

An educational support agency in West Yorkshire seeks individuals with Armed Forces or Police backgrounds to support students facing challenges in Alternative Provisions and specialist SEN schools. The role involves working closely with pupils to help manage behavior and promote learning. Full-time contract, £90-£105/day, available from September 2025. Extensive training and support provided for successful candidates.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Armed Forces or Police desirable.
  • Ability to support students with SEMH and behavioral issues.
  • Experience in mentoring or youth work is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Help students build confidence and manage emotions.
  • Act as a positive role model in a structured environment.

Location: Wakefield, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield & surrounding areas
Daily Rate: £90-£105/day
Contract: Full-time (term-time only) | Long-term & temp-to-perm roles available
Start: September 2025

We're actively recruiting for individuals who want to step into the classroom and support pupils aged 7-16 who face a range of challenges, including:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)

Behavioural difficulties / exclusion from mainstream schools

Autism, ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions

Trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or attachment issues

Supporting students 1:1 or in small groups to re-engage with learning

Acting as a positive role model and helping to manage behaviour in a calm, consistent way

Helping pupils build confidence, regulate emotions and develop resilience

Working with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, structured environment

Supporting practical learning, sport, or vocational sessions (ideal for hands-on individuals)

Armed Forces (Army, RAF, Navy)

Police or Security Services

Youth work, probation or mentoring

Any role involving structure, safeguarding and behavioural risk awareness

Ongoing support from a consultant who understands alternative education
