Job summary

Jigsaw School in Guildford area is seeking Psychology graduates to start careers in Behaviour Based Teaching and SEN Education. The role involves designing, planning and delivering teaching sessions to support autistic pupils, working one-to-one and in small groups with supervision from leading Behaviour Analytic experts.

You will engage in extensive funded training, gain qualifications such as RBT and BCBA pathways, and benefit from a market-leading salary, joining bonus and term-time only

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or nearing completion.
  • Interest in behaviour-based teaching and SEN education.
  • Experience with children or special needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and delivering lessons and activities, focusing largely on communication and life skills.
  • Within small classes encourage pupils learning and progression whilst seeking to improving their social and emotional development.
  • Contributing to research and undertaking training to support your personal development.
  • Supporting pupils’ participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice.
  • Providing behaviourally based support and monitoring pupil progress.

Training & Development opportunities

Responsibilities of the role

What do I need to apply?
  • A psychology degree (or in final year pending completion)
  • Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
  • The desire to work with children with complex needs
  • The ability to keep calm in high pressure situations
  • A positive, patient, caring and can-do attitude
  • Driver’s licence or access to a lift (due to remote location of our site)
  • Confidence when working with children who exhibit behaviour that challenges and supporting with personal/intimate care
Salary

£26,458 FTE (£23,000 PA Pro rata - based on 36.75 hours per week term time only)

Contract terms

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:45am-4:45pm, Tuesday: 8:45am-5:30pm, Friday 8:45am-4:30pm Term time Only

This role is also known as ‘SEN Teaching Assistant’ or ‘Trainee CABAS Teacher’
