Job description

We are looking for a patient and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team.

In this role, you will provide one-to-one support for a pupil with special educational needs, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support that meets the child’s specific needs and helps them achieve their individual targets. The position begins in September 2025.

Duties as SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  1. Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs.
  2. Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised strategies.
  3. Support learning activities both in class and through targeted interventions.
  4. Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
  5. Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil and their family.
  6. Work closely with teaching staff and external professionals as needed.
  7. Help with personal care if required (depending on the pupil’s needs).

Ideal candidate for SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (desirable).
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable to individual needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and motivate pupils to succeed.
