An inclusive and supportive primary school in the heart of Islington is seeking a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with special educational needs. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring that the pupil is fully engaged with their learning, helping them overcome any barriers they may face. You’ll work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to create an environment that promotes growth, independence, and self-confidence.
Role Highlights:
• Full-time, long-term position within a welcoming, inclusive primary school
• Provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with SEN, enabling them to access the curriculum and fully engage in class activities
• Adapt learning activities to suit the individual needs of the pupil, using creative and effective methods
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SEN coordinator to implement personalized learning strategies
• Create a nurturing and positive classroom environment, fostering a sense of security and encouragement for the pupil
• Support the pupil with emotional and behavioral needs, helping them to develop social skills and confidence
• Ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in SEN support and inclusive education
Experience & Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with SEN children is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
• Understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support accordingly
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and parents
• A patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed
• Enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants
