Job description

ABC Teachers is looking for a skilled 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN School in Birmingham on a full-time basis.

About the role:

  • Confidently provide 1:1 education to students.
  • Ability to work with students with a range of Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) needs from years 7 to 9.
  • Liaise with other school staff to devise lesson plans based on the curriculum guidelines and what is currently being taught in other lessons.
  • Assess and monitor student s progress, using assessments from their home schools and robust baseline diagnosis, aiming to reduce the impact of their medical conditions on their educational outcomes.
  • Encourage student participation and performance.
  • Full time position available for an immediate start, with potential for ongoing work for the right candidate.

About you:

To be considered for the 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant position, you will:

  • Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
  • Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
  • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
