Job description

We are recruiting for a Semi Skilled Carpenter for an established freight and exporting company near Southampton, UK.

The role involves primarily making up special cases for large products to be packed and exported worldwide. There will also be packing duties as part of this position.

Hours: Full-time, 8am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Salary: Starting at £13 per hour, potentially rising to £16.50 depending on skill set and performance

Overtime is paid at x1.5 for hours worked on Saturdays up to 2pm, then x2 thereafter.

Job Overview:

1. Manufacturing bespoke plywood and timber packing cases
2. Packing equipment for export
3. Operating industrial saws (crosscut, panel saws)
4. Using pneumatic nail guns
5. Receiving and packing customers' equipment
6. Delivering and collecting orders (including empty cases)
7. Cleaning and maintaining tools

Ideal Candidate:

1. Experience with hand tools (e.g., nail guns, drills, saws) is preferred but not essential
2. Ability to think on their feet and solve problems
3. Responsible, reliable, and professional attitude
4. Full driving license is a plus
