Job description

Job Location: Derby

Job Type: Full-time/Part-time/Contract considered

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations.
  • Communicate with clients advising of liabilities and general queries as and when required.
  • Possibility of VAT management including review of work of other members of staff.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Ideally a minimum of AAT qualifications, but will consider qualified by experience if in the role for a long period of time.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in a practice setting.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
    • Strong Excel skills.
    • Experience of Taxcalc would be beneficial.
  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to handle complex and detailed financial data accurately.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various departments.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to analyse and resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
