Qualifications

Salary: £26,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience & qualifications)

A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Southampton is looking to recruit a proactive and ambitious Semi Senior Accountant to join their friendly team. This is a great opportunity for someone working towards their ACCA, ACA, or AAT qualification, who wants to gain broad client exposure, take on increasing responsibility, and progress their career in practice.

The Role:

You'll be working within the accounts and tax team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients including limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships across a range of industries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing year-end accounts for SMEs and owner-managed businesses

  • Drafting corporation tax computations and VAT returns

  • Supporting management accounts preparation and bookkeeping tasks

  • Assisting with audit fieldwork (if applicable to your skillset)

  • Liaising with clients to gather records and resolve queries

  • Supporting senior accountants and managers with ad hoc assignments

  • Maintaining client relationships and delivering excellent service

What We're Looking For:
  • Part-qualified AAT / ACA / ACCA or QBE

  • At least 2 years' experience in an accountancy practice (essential)

  • Solid understanding of UK accounting and tax principles

  • Experience using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or CCH

  • Confident communicator with a keen eye for detail

  • Enthusiastic about continuing development and progression in practice
