Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Prospero Teaching are currently seeking Tutors for three young people in Petersfield. The young people are not currently not in mainstream education and are seeking positive, inspiring and nurturing 1:1 support in their learning.



Available Roles:

  1. SEMH Tutor - Year 6 (10 hours/week)

    • Support a young learner in Year 6.
    • Focus on re-engagement with learning, building confidence, and working towards Age-Related Expectations (ARE) in English and Maths.
    • Flexible scheduling available.
  2. SEMH Tutor - Year 9 (15 hours/week)

    • Work with a Year 9 student needing structured academic and emotional support.
    • Emphasis on English, Maths, and potentially Science.
    • Help build resilience, routine, and academic confidence.
  3. SEMH Tutor - Year 10 (Full-time)

    • Full-time role supporting a Year 10 student.
    • Deliver tailored sessions in English, Maths, and Science.
    • Focus on preparing for GCSEs and fostering a positive learning mindset

As a Tutor, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Record student progress and report on this weekly.
  • Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
  • Record attendance.
  • Be organised, dependable and creative.
  • Be calm, fair and adaptable.

About you:

  • Nurturing and caring nature

  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Organised
  • Comfortable to support secondary aged pupils with English, Maths and possibly Science too or comfortable to Mentor young people.
  • Have experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL


      • Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
