Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEMH school in Blackburn from September. The role involves supporting pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH, ADHD, Autism and behavioural challenges, providing 1:1 mentoring and small-group interventions.

You'll work with teachers and pastoral staff to promote emotional regulation and positive engagement with education, requiring resilience, patience and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SEN, care, youth work, mentoring or similar desirable.
  • Resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and classroom support for pupils aged 11–16.
  • Deliver small-group interventions to aid learning and engagement.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive engagement with education.
