Job description

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary, Leeds

This role is to start in September on a full-time ongoing basis with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidates.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on some of the most at-risk students in the area and provide 1:1 support to help a child progress to the next stages of their education.

Who are we looking for?
  • Experience in an educational setting, either in mainstream schools or alternative provisions.
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviour.
  • A confident, caring, and assertive personality.
What to expect?
  • Patience, confidence, and a caring attitude are essential, as the student has complex social, emotional, and mental health issues.
  • Use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies may be required.
  • Positive reinforcement when the student displays good behaviour.
What we need from you:
  • Two references.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one (assistance available).
  • Team Teach positive behaviour management certificate preferred but not essential.
