Job summary

Aspire People are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a primary school who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will work alongside teachers and the SEND team to provide consistent support that helps pupils thrive academically and emotionally.

The role is full-time and long-term, with opportunities for progression. You will build strong relationships with children, parents, and school staff while delivering structured interventions.

Qualifications

  • Recent UK primary school experience within the last 2 years.
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Full-Time | Long-Term Role | Aspire People

Aspire People are recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a primary school who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure, and help children overcome barriers to learning.

You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and the school's SEND team to provide consistent support that enables pupils to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Building trusting and positive relationships with children
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Delivering structured interventions and 1:1 support
