Mental Health & Behaviour Support Assistant – KS1 & KS2 – Leamington Spa Location: Leamington Spa Type: Full-time – Long-term placement Salary: £89 – £105 per day / £445 – £525 per week Axcis Education is working in partnership with a caring and inclusive mainstream primary school in Leamington Spa to recruit a dedicated and resilient Mental Health & Behaviour Support Assistant. This full-time role involves supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who experience social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of young children who may be struggling with trauma, anxiety, attachment difficulties, or emotional regulation. The Role: You will: Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Support children through their emotional challenges using a calm, consistent approach. Help implement positive behaviour plans, restorative practices, and trauma-informed strategies. Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure pupils are supported both academically and emotionally. Encourage confidence, emotional resilience, and improved social interactions in the classroom setting. About You: Experience working with children or young people with mental health difficulties, SEMH, or challenging behaviour is highly desirable. Confident in using positive behaviour support strategies and remaining calm under pressure. Kind, empathetic and reliable – able to build strong, trusting relationships. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or trauma-informed approaches is beneficial but not essential.
