Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH needs in Dagenham. This long-term, full-time role starts September 2026 with a trial from 13th, and offers day-rate of £100-£120.

The successful candidate will have experience with SEMH, 1:1 support, strong behaviour management, a calm and resilient approach, and a valid DBS on the Update Service. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement behaviour strategies and build positive

  • Record progress and communicate with colleagues as needed.

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Dagenham, starting in September.

Position: 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Dagenham
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term
Start Date: September 2026 (Trial from 13th)
Daily Rate: £100-£120 per day

Requirements:
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Experience providing 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils
  • Able to implement behaviour support strategies and work closely with teaching staff
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service
  • 2-3 professional references covering a minimum of 2-3 years of employment history
  • Proof of right to work in the UK
  • Proof of National Insurance
  • Proof of address (dated within the last three months)
