Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Rugby is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision from September 2026. You will support pupils who require emotional, social and behavioural support within a nurturing and structured learning environment.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist teachers with differentiated learning activities, and help pupils develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or youth work are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement.
• Implement behaviour support plans and risk assessments effectively.
• Promote inclusion, wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour.
