Role

Aspire People are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a SEN school in Leicester. This role provides 1:1 support to secondary students who require tailored assistance in managing their emotions and behaviour in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Offer 1:1 support to students aged 11+ with SEMH needs, ensuring they remain engaged and focused in class
  • Assist in developing strategies to manage challenging behaviours and promote positive emotional regulation
  • Help students with personal development, social skills, and academic progress
  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering individualised learning plans
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and understood
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a UK secondary school, ideally in a SEN or SEMH role
  • A solid understanding of SEMH needs and the strategies required to support students effectively
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure
  • A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting students' academic and emotional well-being
  • Ability to work as part of a team with teachers and other support staff
