Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND school in Darlington to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant for long-term roles, both full-time and part-time. You will support pupils with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviour, delivering 1:1 and small-group assistance in KS1–KS4 settings.

The role requires patience, resilience and strong communication to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff. Market-leading pay and ongoing CPD are provided by TeacherActive.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Experience providing 1:1 support or working with small groups of pupils.
• Strong behaviour management and positive behaviour support strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
• Adapt learning resources to support SEMH and additional learning needs.
