Job summary

Milk Education is seeking SEMH Teaching Assistants for Wakefield and surrounding areas. This supply-based role may be day-to-day or longer-term, joining supportive schools focused on pupil wellbeing and progress.

You will provide SEMH-specific support, helping pupils engage with learning, regulate emotions and build confidence in a calm, consistent environment. Previous experience and Level 2/3 TA qualifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
• Level 2/3 TA qualification desirable but not essential.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach with calm consistency in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and achieve targets.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and social development.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to implement support strategies.
• Help pupils manage behavioural challenges and promote independence.
