GSL Education is proud to be working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive secondary school in Dibden Purlieu to recruit a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a September start. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs, SEMH needs, and mild learning difficulties.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in promoting student success and wellbeing. You will be working both within the classroom and in small group or 1:1 setting, offering academic, social and emotional support tailored to individual student needs. This position is ideal for someone who is calm, nurturing and genuinely wants to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside classroom teachers to support the learning and engagement of students with additional needs.
  • Provide personalised interventions in literacy, numeracy and study skills, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Encourage student participation and help maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress and share feedback with teaching staff and the SENCO.
  • Support students with their emotional wellbeing, developing trusting relationships and promoting self-confidence.
  • Be an advocate for students with SEND, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.
  • Assist with general classroom duties and contribute to wider school life.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally within a school or youth setting.
  • A good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • A patient, supportive and understanding approach to working with students who may face barriers to learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting the welfare of all students.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a genuine passion for supporting education.
