SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: 25,000 - 26,000 pro rata
Hours: 7 hours per day, 08:30 - 16:15
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: CV7 Area

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day classroom and behavioural support for students with SEMH needs

  • Assist in de-escalating challenging situations and fostering positive behavioural strategies

  • Support individual students in managing emotional regulation and accessing the curriculum

  • Work closely with the teaching team and external professionals to implement support plans

  • Encourage student engagement through patience, empathy, and active intervention

  • Use initiative and flexibility in managing the evolving needs of the classroom

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a SEMH or SEND school setting is essential

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, proactive, and supportive during crises

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to build trusting relationships with students
