Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with social, emotional and mental health needs? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Implement individual behaviour and learning plans.
  • Foster a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school, youth work, care, or similar settings).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent in challenging situations.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as ADHD, ASD, trauma or attachment difficulties.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches (e.g., Thrive, Zones of Regulation, restorative practice).
