Qualifications

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Birmingham
Location: Birmingham
Duration: Full-time, ongoing
Salary: £85 – £95 per day

Balfor Education is currently recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Birmingham. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a personalised curriculum and a supportive environment focused on both academic and emotional development.

The successful candidate will act as a positive role model, offering both classroom and emotional support to students with a variety of needs including ASD and ADHD. Patience, resilience, and a commitment to creating a safe and nurturing space are essential. The position runs until the end of the academic year, with excellent long-term potential.

Requirements:
  • Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN background

  • Experience with SEMH, ASD, ADHD

  • PECS and Makaton training (preferred)

  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate

  • Enhanced DBS (on the update service)

  • Valid photo ID and recent, school-based references
