Job description

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEMH / PRU Teacher to join one of our partner schools in Bolton and make a real difference to children with Special Educational Needs.

Job Description:

As an SEMH / PRU Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters emotional well-being and academic growth.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging resilience, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH issues and strategies to support students with these needs.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Additional qualifications or training in SEMH, special education, or related areas.
  • Experience in developing and implementing EHCPs.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEN education.
