Job summary

Philosophy Education is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teacher for a permanent position in Wembley. The role offers Inner London M1 UPS3 salary plus a £4,000 SEN allowance, with small class sizes (up to six pupils) in a specialist SEMH setting and a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.

You will plan and deliver tailored lessons, support pupils with SEMH and SEND, and work with a multidisciplinary team to monitor progress and develop curriculum areas.

Qualifications

  • QTS or trainee working towards QTS (considered)
  • Successful teaching experience with primary-aged children
  • Experience teaching children with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Experience with planning, assessment and target-setting
  • Strong behaviour management and positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience teaching phonics
  • Understanding the impact of trauma, adverse childhood experiences, neurodivergence and complex SEMH needs
  • Ability to build positive relationships and motivate pupils with barriers to education
  • Resilient, reflective and compassionate approach
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for small groups.
  • Teach the National Curriculum across KS1 and KS2, including phonics.
  • Support SEMH and SEND pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour, self-regulation and emotional wellbeing.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and families.
  • Lead and support a class team of staff.
  • Collaborate with therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to targets and reviews.
  • Create a safe, stimulating classroom environment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and potentially take ownership of a subject area.
  • Participate in CPD, reflective practice and school development.
