Hays Education has recently seen an increased need for local Special Educational Needs Teachers in Schools across Northamptonshire for day-to-day and long-term supply, with the potential for permanent contracts.

At Hays, we work with numerous schools across Northamptonshire, covering Northampton, Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough, Rushden, Daventry, Towcester, Brackley, and surrounding areas. As a Teacher working through Hays, you will have access to local work in your preferred area, focusing on schools you choose to work in.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) Secondary School in Towcester for young people aged 11-18 with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties who have struggled to settle into mainstream education. The school is growing, currently with over 63 students, and offers a vocational hub alongside the National Curriculum. This enables students to develop skills in areas they are passionate about, such as Motor Vehicle Studies, Construction, Hair and Beauty, and Engineering.

Your new role

We are seeking a full-time Special Educational Needs Teacher to join the team as soon as possible on a temporary to permanent basis. We want exceptional individuals who thrive in challenging environments and are passionate about supporting the development of social, life, and independence skills. Your role will be to make a positive impact on the lives of children with diverse care needs, personalities, and life experiences, making each day varied and engaging.

You will need to build trusting relationships with students and motivate them, providing individual attention, reassurance, and assistance with living and learning tasks as appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will be a confident teacher with Qualified Teacher Status. We welcome experienced teachers as well as ECTs who are comfortable working with children and young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.

Applications from graduates with relevant degrees and experience working with children are also encouraged.

Please note: We are unable to support overseas applications for these roles.

What you'll get in return

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive school environment with rewarding work and excellent students. Benefits include:

  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Holiday pay and pension contributions
  • Access to the Hays Hub mobile app for managing bookings
  • Ongoing professional development and support
  • A dedicated team of professionals available to assist you
  • Refer-a-Friend scheme worth £250 in high street vouchers
