Job Title: SEMH Teacher

Location: Stretford

Hours: Full Time - 5 days

Salary: £26,000 to £35,000

About the school:

Simply Education is currently working in partnership with an SEMH Secondary School looking for a Teacher to deliver a varied curriculum to students similar to a Primary based model. This is a new setting which provides bespoke learning opportunities for young people aged 11-16 with additional needs who have previously experienced trauma and have SEMH needs.

The setting focuses on changing students’ mindsets and giving them the tools to be successful in their future. The School has a gym, large industrial kitchen for food technology, Astroturf football pitch, a hair and beauty studio, and other great facilities for vocational studies. Students have academic studies in the mornings and vocational studies in the afternoons.

The role:

We are looking for a Teacher to deliver all subjects similar to a Primary model to students working at a lower level, including functional skills. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality bespoke Maths, English, Science, PSHE, and other lessons to students in Year 7 and Year 8. The role will include delivering some creative art lessons in the afternoons several times a week.

Due to the nature of the role, QTS and prior experience teaching is essential. The ideal Teacher would be able to commit to a full-time role Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm, as consistency is vital for students. 2 wellbeing days per year are provided, along with your birthday off each year paid!

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To deliver high-quality bespoke Maths, English, Science, PSHE, and other lessons, including art lessons up to 3 times a week.
  2. Support the students in re-engaging with their learning.
  3. Model and promote high behaviour expectations.
  4. Communicate effectively and build rapport and common interests with students to inspire and motivate them.
  5. Prepare students for life beyond school.

Key Requirements:

  1. An understanding of working with disengaged students.
  2. Knowledge and experience teaching a range of subjects during the school day.
  3. Resilience and the ability to model and promote high behaviour expectations.
  4. Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  5. Driving license and access to own transport is essential.

Advantages of working in an SEMH School:

  • Shorter working hours, which help establish a better work-life balance.
  • Smaller class sizes, allowing you to get to know your students better.
  • Flexibility within the curriculum, enabling creative teaching approaches.
  • Satisfaction from supporting students to reach their full potential.
