Job summary

Academics in Cheltenham is seeking a Social and Emotional Support Assistant to provide 1:1 and holistic support to students with SEMH needs. You will foster emotional safety, support self-expression and regulate behaviour while building strong relationships with pupils.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with hours 8:30am to 3:30pm. Prior experience with children is beneficial; a psychology or criminology degree is relevant.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is beneficial.
• Degree in Psychology or Criminology relevant.
• Empathetic and patient with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and holistic support tailored to SEMH and learning needs.
• Supporting self-expression, emotional regulation and managing behaviour positively
• Building trusting relationships to foster emotional safety
• Identify pupils emotionally dysregulated and support challenges they face
• Help build academic, emotional and social skills
