Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a compassionate Pastoral Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in a Newcastle specialist school. You will work alongside teachers to promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive relationships in a structured, nurturing environment.

This full-time, term-time only role offers a daily rate of £105–£110 and opportunities for professional development and career progression within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and interventions.
• Build trusting relationships to promote emotional wellbeing.
• Assist teachers with engaging, differentiated activities.
• Support behaviour management using restorative approaches.
• Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage development of social and communication skills.
• Collaborate with staff, families and agencies to support pupils.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Supervise pupils during breaks and activities when needed.
