Job summary

Supply Desk is assisting a well-established specialist school in Southampton in its search for a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join from October 2026. This full-time role works with students across KS3-4 who have SEMH needs.

You will deliver engaging lessons, support students academically and emotionally, and help them overcome barriers to learning. The position initially runs until Christmas 2026, with a strong possibility of extension to July 2027.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Experience with SEMH/SEND or vulnerable learners desirable.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
• Patient, resilient and flexible approach to teaching.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver differentiated lessons to students with SEMH needs.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet learning and behavioural needs.
• Foster positive relationships to support engagement and wellbeing.
• Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with curriculum expectations.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Support students in developing resilience and independence.
• Collaborate with pastoral, safeguarding, SEND and behaviour teams.
• Contribute to the wider development of students and the school community.
