Job summary

AP Education is recruiting SEND/SEMH Tutors, Teachers and HLTA to provide face-to-face 2:1 support in Thurrock for learners with complex needs, from Early Years to KS4.

You will assist with core subjects, support behaviour management, liaise with colleagues and external professionals, and contribute to progress reporting. This role offers guaranteed weekly pay and term-time hours up to 30 per week at £28–£32 per hour.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH.
• HLTA certification preferred; applicants with two years UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist preparing learning materials for core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies and patience.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, ensuring learners' individual needs are met.
• Assist the Tutor to write detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals (SALT, OT, Social Workers).
• Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings as appropriate.
