Job summary

Engage Partners Limited is recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded independent specialist school in Calderdale for a Specialist Learning Mentor to support pupils aged 8–19 with SEMH and additional needs. Location is Calderdale, with a September 2026 start or flexible for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs or SEMH.
• Ability to build positive relationships with learners who may struggle to trust adults.
• Commitment to safeguarding and flexible, proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and confidence.
• Support learning within the classroom alongside teaching staff.
• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and de-escalate challenging situations.
• Encourage independence, resilience and social development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to achieve the best outcomes for each student.
