Are you a resilient and dedicated SEMH Secondary Teacher eager to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Academics, a respected education recruitment agency, is proud to be supporting a specialist SEMH provision in Lichfield to appoint an inspiring SEMH Secondary Teacher who can foster both academic and emotional growth in students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

About the Role:

As an SEMH Secondary Teacher, you will deliver a flexible and engaging curriculum to KS3 and KS4 students who may have faced barriers to education. Your goal will be to re-ignite a love for learning, build emotional resilience, and provide a consistent and nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe and supported.

We are looking for a compassionate SEMH Secondary Teacher who can build strong relationships, implement trauma-informed practices, and support pupils in overcoming challenges. You'll work alongside a committed team of support staff and pastoral leaders to provide stability and structure to young people navigating complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised, differentiated lessons that support both academic and emotional development.
  • Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with support staff, SENCOs, and outside professionals to meet EHCP and behavioural targets.
  • Use effective behaviour management and restorative approaches.
  • Foster self-esteem, engagement, and progression in every pupil.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience within SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural needs in a secondary setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and a belief in every student's potential.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
