Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced School Cook to work within a specialist SEMH setting in Milton Keynes. The role blends catering skill with a calm, trauma-informed approach to supporting pupils.

The ideal candidate will have school catering experience, level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene, and the ability to handle dietary requirements while maintaining high food hygiene standards. This is a temporary placement of around three weeks with negotiable pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in school catering or similar setting.
• Has Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification or above.
• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches when working with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
• Cater for dietary requirements and allergies, following food safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and stock control.
• Plan menus suitable for pupils' dietary and sensory needs.
• Manage orders, stock rotation, portion control and waste.
• Complete temperature and allergen records accurately.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure dietary requirements are understood.
• Maintain a calm, welcoming environment around pupils.
