Job summary

A leading educational staffing agency is seeking a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant in Colchester. The role involves supporting a student with special educational needs and developing behaviour management strategies. Candidates must have experience with SEMH needs and relevant qualifications. 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant in SEMH Provision, with experience in managing challenging behaviour

Location: Colchester

Salary: £89.38 - £100 Per day

Job Duties
  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with Special Educational Needs and Social Emotional Mental Health needs in a specialist provision.
  • Implement individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively and de-escalate situations when necessary
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the holistic development of students
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practise and safeguarding procedures
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations
Working Conditions
  • Work primarily within a school setting, 8.30am - 4pm Monday-Friday
  • Full-time hours with occasional flexibility required
  • Regular interaction with students, teachers, and other educational professionals

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
