SEMH Learning Progression Officer

Full-Time

Fixed-term Contract until August 2026

About the role

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? The EFI is seeking a SEMH Learning Progression Officer to provide specialist support to Further Education students, helping them build emotional resilience and achieve academic success. You will deliver tailored interventions for individuals and groups, promote learner independence, and play a central role in supporting students with EHCPs.

As a trained DSL and First Aider, you'll be equipped to manage disclosures and uphold safeguarding practices in line with the EFI's policies. You will also act as a valuable resource for staff, sharing your expertise and strategies to help students thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

About you

  • Qualifications: Relevant training or qualification related to the SEMH needs of children and young people, and trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and First Aider (or willingness to undertake this training.)
  • Experience: Experience of working with vulnerable young people who present with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) and wellbeing needs.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of SEMH needs and evidence-based strategies to support young people, including formal training in building supportive relationships, promoting mental health, and responding to issues such as stress, anxiety, low mood, and social difficulties.
  • Skills: Ability to build rapport and motivate learners with SEND, using adaptable, relational approaches and strong communication and emotional regulation skills.
  • Passion: Resilient, responsible and empathetic team player, driven by high expectations and ambition for every learner's potential.

Salary:

From £26,550 to £29,500 per annum, subject to qualifications and experience
