Job summary

Academics in Trowbridge is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to assist pupils with SEMH, ASC, ADHD and other needs in a specialist education setting. This role welcomes Psychology graduates or those aiming to work in mental health.

You will work with teachers, SEN staff and therapists to help pupils develop emotional resilience, coping strategies and confidence to engage with learning. Roles available full-time or part-time starting September 2026.

Qualifications

• Psychology degree or relevant academic background is desirable.
• Experience in SEN, care, youth work, education or support work is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and emotional wellbeing needs.
• Building trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and understood.
• Helping pupils recognise and communicate their emotions and needs.
• Supporting emotional regulation and anxiety management strategies.
• Encouraging confidence, resilience and positive self-esteem.
• Collaborating with teachers, SEN professionals and therapists.
