Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support students with SEMH in our Blyth provision. You will build positive relationships, help students regulate emotions, and work with teachers and families to tailor support.

The role is full-time, term-time only, starting September 2026, based in Blyth. You will deliver targeted interventions, monitor progress, and contribute to safeguarding and welfare of pupils within our Alternative Provision.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
• Calm, patient, resilient and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and work with families and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted role model.
• Support students with SEMH to regulate behaviour and emotions using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
• Deliver targeted interventions to improve behaviour, wellbeing, attendance, and engagement.
• Support students during lessons to maximise learning and minimise disruption.
• Respond calmly to challenging behaviour following policies.
• Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
• Work with teachers, safeguarding staff, families, and external professionals.
• Promote high expectations while maintaining a nurturing environment.
• Record and monitor student progress and behaviour accurately.
