Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor in Barking & Dagenham to support pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom. The role focuses on building positive relationships, encouraging engagement, and developing emotional regulation and social skills.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEN professionals to guide students toward confidence and resilience, fostering independent learning in a dedicated SEMH setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with SEMH, SEN or youth work.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willing to obtain one).

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working with children and young people who require additional behavioural support?

We are currently recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a dedicated SEMH setting in Barking & Dagenham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students who need positive role models and consistent support.

The Role

• Support pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, behavioural needs, youth work or care backgrounds
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
