An established industry player is seeking a compassionate and understanding Social Personal Assistant to provide support to a young man with Autism. This part-time role involves engaging in social activities such as walks and coffee chats, aimed at reducing social isolation. Social Support required for a 21-year-old undergraduate student at Durham University who lives in college.
He enjoys going out for walks and coffee and exploring new places. He has a keen interest in classical music, especially orchestral symphonies, and plays the organ, piano, and viola. He enjoys languages, especially German and Russian.
Brief details of the job:
To provide social support/befriending for a young man on the Autistic Spectrum to reduce his social isolation at weekends. The support will ideally be on a Saturday, to go out for a walk, have a coffee and chat, or possibly attend a classical concert together.
Good listening skills, a sense of humour, and empathy are essential. Understanding of ASD and experience of supporting others with Autism are required. Appreciation of classical music and the ability to speak German or Russian would be ideal but not essential.
